What to Wear on Grey Winter Days – Cozy, Casual & Chic Outfit Ideas
Grey winter days call for outfits that feel comforting but still look polished. I love looks that are easy to wear, practical for everyday life, and effortlessly chic — especially when they’re styled tone-on-tone. Neutral palettes, soft layers and thoughtful textures make even the coldest, dullest days feel a little more inspiring.
Here are four winter outfits I keep coming back to when I want to feel cosy, put-together and confident.
Outfit 1: Grey on Grey, Elevated Basics

This first look is all about modern minimalism. I styled grey tailored trousers from Next with a cropped grey knit from NA-KD. Underneath, I layered a classic white blouse from Uniqlo, letting the collar and cuffs peek out for a clean, structured contrast.
To keep the outfit relaxed and wearable, I added white sneakers from New Balance and a white handbag from Polène.
The final touch is a long black faux-fur coat from Topshop, which instantly elevates the look and makes it feel winter-ready.
Why I love it: It’s cosy, timeless and perfect for everyday errands or casual meetings — effortless but still chic.
Outfit 2: Burgundy Tones & Soft Textures
This is one of my favourite tone-on-tone winter looks. I paired burgundy wide-leg wool-blend trousers with a matching burgundy sweater from Tommy Hilfiger. Underneath, I once again layered my trusted white Uniqlo shirt, allowing the collar to show slightly.
To add depth, I styled the look with a burgundy-brown leather belt, a woven suede-leather handbag, and brown suede sneakers from Adidas.
Why I love it: Monochrome outfits always look intentional and elegant, and burgundy feels especially warm and luxurious during winter.
Outfit 3: Brown Midi Dress & Soft Layers
This outfit feels very soft, feminine and cosy. I’m wearing a brown midi dress from Zara, styled with brown suede boots and a large brown shopper bag from Next — practical but still elegant.
Over the dress, I layered a long faux-fur gilet from Costes, which adds warmth and texture. On colder days, I complete the look with a long brown faux-suede coat (also from Zara) with faux fur lining.
Why I love it: It’s the perfect balance between comfort and elegance — ideal for winter walks, lunches or cosy city days.
Outfit 4: Casual Chic with Denim & Tailoring
The last outfit is a great everyday casual-chic look. I styled light straight-leg jeans from Cotton Club with a brown blazer from Next. Underneath, I wore a sleeveless alpaca-wool blend turtleneck top from Marc O’Polo.
To define the waist, I added a brown belt over the blazer, giving the outfit more structure. I finished the look with brown suede Adidas sneakers and the woven suede handbag from Next, which ties everything together beautifully.
Why I love it: It’s comfortable, modern and perfect for busy days when you still want to look polished.
Final Thoughts
Winter outfits don’t have to be boring — even on grey days. Playing with neutral colour palettes, soft layers and tonal styling makes getting dressed more enjoyable and effortless.
If you love cosy, chic and everyday-wearable winter looks, these outfits are perfect inspiration for the colder months.
